Roasted Chicken Cordon Bleu Pasta

Egg noodles topped with sauce prepared from all-purpose flour, fat-free milk, Dijon mustard, shredded Jarlsberg cheese, chopped roasted chicken breast, peas, diced lean deli ham, and fresh ground black pepper.

Ingredients -
8 ounces Uncooked Medium Egg Noodles
1/4 cup All-Purpose Flour
2 cups Fat-Free Milk, divided
1 tablespoon Dijon Mustard
1-1/2 cups (6 ounces) Shredded Jarlsberg Cheese
2 cups Chopped Roasted Boneless, Skinless Chicken Breasts
1 cup Frozen Peas, thawed
1 cup (4 ounces) Diced Lean Deli Ham
1/4 teaspoon Fresh Ground Black Pepper
 
Preparation:

1. Cook the noodles until al dente.

2. Add the flour and 1/4 cup milk to a heavy saucepan and whisk until smooth.

3. Heat the pan over medium heat and whisk in the remaining milk and mustard.

4. Cook until the mixture begins to thicken, which takes about 6 minutes, constantly stirring.

5. Reduce the heat to low.

6. Add the cheese and constantly stir until the cheese melts.

7. Add the remaining ingredients and stir well.

8. Serve over the cooked egg noodles.

Jarlsberg Cheese

Jarlsberg cheese is a part skim cheese made from cow’s milk, named after a county of the same name in Norway. The cheese is semi-hard with a nutty, sweet flavor. Jarlsberg has holes running through the cheese, similar to Swiss cheese. The cheese is available in wheels, blocks and fresh slices.

Roast boneless, skinless chicken breasts easily by placing in a baking dish and roasting in a 400 F oven until an internal temperature of 165 F is reaches via a meat thermometer.
