Chicken has successfully been combined with pasta and sauces for decades. Chicken Alfredo uses a creamy sauce of Parmesan cheese, butter and milk or half-and-half to create a rich dish bursting with flavor.
Pesto sauce is loaded with a blend of spices and used for a lighter dressing that is lower in calories and fat. Butter sauces are another option for use with chicken and often contain a splash of lemon juice to brighten the flavor. These
varieties of chicken are generally served over a bed of fettuccine, angle hair or penne pasta. Chicken can be either mixed into a tomato sauce or coated in sauce and cheese and baked as with Chicken Parmesan. These preparations are usually
found on top of a generous pile of spaghetti.
Chicken served with Alfredo, pesto or butter sauce calls for preparing chicken and pasta separately then plating them together. However, there are many recipes that combine the two ingredients before cooking so the flavors of the sauces
or spices incorporated into the dish can be absorbed by both the chicken and pasta. Both methods often include or have an option for the addition of vegetables such as broccoli, carrots, bell peppers and beans. With or without added vegetables,
chicken and pasta makes a healthy and delectable feast. |
