Cooking Pasta

Al dente refers to cooking pasta until it is firm but no longer hard. Recipes and instructions will offer guidelines to how long to cook pasta, but the time it takes can vary. Cook the pasta for a few minutes and then test a piece every few minutes until it has reached the desired doneness.
