1. Add the oil and chicken to a skillet and brown until done.
2. Add the vegetables and cook until crisp tender.
3. Add the chicken broth, basil and pepper and bring to a boil.
4. Add the rice and stir well, returning the mixture to a boil.
5. Cover, lower the heat and simmer for 5 minutes.
6. Let stand for 5 minutes, stir in the cheese and serve.
